Inspired by the cupola views while on the international space station. Karen Nyberg, astronaut and quilt designer,, developed this design with spectacular earth views in mind. Pattern booklet has instructions for the pieced hexagon quilt in two layouts and 3 sizes in each layout.

Complicated but video helps
One of my grandsons loves space. This series of patterns is one of the most unique I have ever seen. He will love this for years to come -- maybe even into college. I modified this by making the window have all the same of one fabric so he could feel like an actual astronaut. I put the names of the fabrics on the back in order so that he would know what he was looking at running a column down the back. I also fussy-cut and appliqued planets and space explorers on the back around the names. In essence, he really has two quilts.
